La Paz, Bolívia

La Paz is the highest administrative capital in the world (the official capital of Bolivia is Sucre) at an elevation of about 3650m. Staying there for two days was a piece of cake after trekking on the Isla of Sol at 4200m!

The scenery was beautiful on the way from Lake Titicaca to La Paz and some of the 6000+ metre peaks (such as the Illimani) surrounding the city showed up in the distance:

Entering the city (or to be more exact, a neighbouring metropolitan area, El Alto) was not as glamorous, looked like this:

The lawn doesn't grow well above 3000m it seems

Arriving to La Paz itself, welcomes you the mass murderer revolutionist's statue

 La Paz downtown

Can you spot what's wrong here?

Awesome oldschool buses everywhere..pretty crowded without exception

Not sure what she was selling wearing the mask but opted out..

I don't like pigeons but these guys do..

One of the streets were restored rather nicely and galleries and museums took place there

I guess being an electrician in La Paz is not the safest job..

 Rush hour

 Dried lama embryo, anyone?

 And finally, our hostel. Recommended.
