"Riot police clashed with striking workers (video) from Spain's Iberia airline on Monday as they began a five-day stoppage in protest at plans to sack a fifth of the workforce in a country struggling with 26% unemployment. As hundreds of flights were cancelled in the biggest strike yet to hit Iberia, Willie Walsh, chairman of the airline's parent company since its merger with British Airways, stuck to his plan for 3,800 job cuts." source

We are flying with Avianca, Colombian airlines, which are also affected by the strike but certain flights still depart. And guess what, we are lucky:

Colombian airline Avianca said Tuesday it would cancel several flights due to a strike at Spanish airline Iberia. Avianca announced the cancelation of the 026 Bogota-Madrid and 027 Madrid-Bogota flights between Tuesday and Friday.

The airline said the daily 010-011 flights Bogota-Madrid-Bogota would be operating as normal.

Fingers crossed it won't change! :)
